A building on the Bowling Green State University campus was evacuated Thursday after the report of a gas odor in the area.
The Bowling Green Fire Division was called to the Physical Sciences Building, 824 E. Merry St., at approximately 4:45 p.m. on the report of a gas leak. Upon arrival, fire personnel noted a strong odor of gas at the northeast corner of the building. BGSU maintenance was called, and the building was evacuated.
A search of the building turned up pockets of a gas odor, which dissipated. Maintenance personnel noted that gas service to the building had been previously secured and was not turned on. It was determined that the likely cause of the odor was from a lab process or cleaning solution for glassware.
Occupants were subsequently allowed to re-enter the building.
Fire personnel remained on-scene until just after 5:30 p.m.
