Relay for Life of Southern Wood County announces 2014 honorary survivor

Relay For Life of Southern Wood County has named the 2014 Honorary Survivor, Carol McCullough.
McCullough is a 20-year survivor of cervical cancer. She first got involved in Relay For Life in 1998 and
has served as both a Team Captain and Committee Member.
McCulloughl will be honored during the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Relay For Life of Southern Wood
County being held May 16-17 at Bowling Green High School football stadium.
Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.
Friday events include: Live auction hosted by auctioneer Shad Ridenour, silent auction, a performance by
local band Steel Wynd, and the Ms. Relay pageant. The luminaria ceremony will begin at 10 p.m. with a
performance by the BGHS Madrigals.
Saturday events include a breakfast, performance by Ms. Julie’s Dance Studio, basket auction hosted by
Channel 11 anchor Jerry Anderson and concluding with closing ceremonies at 11:30 a.m.
Throughout the event, teams will be hosting fundraisers with food, activities for kids and various craft
items.
Live auction items include: quilts, furniture, a 20 person rib-eye steak sandwich catered dinner,
artwork, live trees, golf outing and more.
Silent auction items include: baskets, gift certificates, hand crafted items, services from local
businesses and more.
2014 marks the 20th anniversary of Relay For Life of Southern Wood County. Since 1994, Relay For Life of
Southern Wood County has raised more than $2 million for the American Cancer Society to help finish the
fight against cancer. Sponsors include Wood County Hospital; GKN Driveline; Marsh and Marsh Attorneys at
Law; Belleville Brothers Meat Market; Rayle, Matthews and Coon Attorneys at Law; and Meijers.
