Register for the following upcoming Wood County Park District programs at www.wcparks.org or by calling
419-353-1897.
• Winter Fest, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, W.W. Knight Preserve – Snow games, cool hikes, winter art, animal
tracking, a warming fire, hot treats and more invite us outside to see how much fun nature in winter can
be. No snow, no worries. There will still be lots of fun stuff going on. Indoors and out, dress for the
weather.
• Greenhouse Help Volunteer Opportunity, 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 4, Reuthinger Preserve – Help grow plants at
the native nursery and greenhouse. Volunteers may be asked to perform a variety of functions such as
transplanting seedlings, filling pots or watering plants. No experience necessary.
• Winter Survival Skills, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6, Reuthinger Preserve – There may come a time when you
least expect it when you are stuck out in the cold. Come learn some survival tips that may help you
survive the elements. No registration necessary.
• PiPs: Whistle Pig, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Feb. 8, Carter Historic Farm – For children 3-6 years of age.
Participants will enjoy a short story and a craft. Adult companions must remain with children for this
program.
• Killer Hawks and Owls Field Trip, 2 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 8, Killdeer Plains Wildlife Refuge – Killdeer
Plains is home to wintering hawks and owls. This group will seek them out. Bring money for a fast-food
dinner on the way home. Cost $10; Friends, $5.
