Wood County Children's Services will be raising awareness of child abuse and neglect Wednesday by holding several community events.
At 10 a.m., the event will kick off at the First United Methodist Church on East Wooster Street, Bowling Green, where 782 pinwheels will be planted. Each pinwheel represents one child abuse or neglect investigation completed in Wood County in 2012.
There will then be a luncheon sold by Children's Services staff in the atrium of the Wood County Courthouse from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be a silent auction of themed baskets at that time, along with a raffle for a quilt and gift card tree. Proceeds from the event will go to the Wood County Children's Services Donated Fund, which among other things helps host a holiday party for Wood County foster children.
Wood County Children's Services is also asking people to wear blue to work on April 10 in support of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month.
