LIME CITY - Perrysburg Township officials discussed combining a yearly open house at the fire station slated Oct. 5 with a bicycle safety event planned by the police department.
The open house with be 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and include giveaways, raffles, demonstrations and a barbecue, fire Chief Tom Brice said at a Wednesday department heads meeting.
The "community bike rodeo" will consist of several courses for children to ride, and bike and helmet checks, said police Chief Mark Hetrick.
Trustees approved several purchase orders, including an $1,100 expenditure for a discounted set of hydraulic cutters. Brice said he learned the department's current tool has bent blades that would cost $1,200 to repair, while the company offers an upgrade to a newer model, normally $6,500, at a reduced price.
Also approved was an $11,020 bill for equipment to accompany two new police vehicles.
The township received the resignation of two employees, volunteer firefighter Graham Miller and police dispatcher Barrett Dorner. Miller accepted another job, and Dorner will reportedly attend firefighter training in Toledo.
Zoning Administrator Kelly Hemminger reported that Wood County Planning Commission provided a no-cost update to the township's zoning map, last done in late 2011.
The group entered executive session to discuss police and fire collective bargaining and sale of real property, with no action taken. Removed from the agenda at the start of the meeting was an executive session item related to police employee discipline.
