PERRYSBURG — A school employee was arrested for theft Wednesday, the district announced this morning.
Eric Whitson, who has worked in the treasurer’s office since 2004, handled accounts receivable and student activity accounts and has been put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Whitson was arrested by Perrysburg police and investigators from the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office.
The district announced it is cooperating with the Prosecutor’s Office and police but will not comment further. No information was immediately available on what may have been taken from the district.
According to the district, Julian & Grube Inc. audits Perrysburg Schools every year; the next audit is scheduled to begin in October. Last year’s audit revealed no discrepancies or irregularities. Last fall, Perrysburg Schools was received the Auditor of State Award for having clean audit reports.
