PERRYSBURG – The Cocoon Shelter is the beneficiary of $5,000 raised by the Perrysburg Exchange Club at a “Celebrity-Wait” dinner held Sunday.
“We’ve been supporting the Cocoon Shelter out of foundation funds for probably seven, eight years,” said Bob Bidwell, an Exchange Club member who helped organize the event, “and we thought we’d try a little something different by hosting a specific fundraiser for them.”
The event, held at Stella’s, featured two seatings at 4 and 6:30 p.m., each with its own cadre of celebrity waiters.
Waiting during the first seating were State Rep. Tim Brown, Toth Elementary Principal Beth Christoff, Cocoon Shelter Executive Director Michelle Clossick, retired Perrysburg Police Chief Rick Gilts, Fire Chief Jeff Klein, Councilman Tom Mackin, Key Bank Manager Anthony Sprenger, Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn, and Perrysburg Township Trustee Craig LaHote.
Waiters at the second seating were Perrysburg Public Service Director Jon Eckel; Councilmen Todd Grayson, John Kevern and Mike Olmstead; Junior High Assistant Principal Robin Laird; Chamber of Commerce Director Sandy Latchem; and Downtown Perrysburg Inc. Director Kerry Wellstein.
Bidwell said the club hopes to hold the event annually.
