PERRYSBURG - After a heated appointment process late last month, council officially inducted Sara Weisenburger into its ranks Tuesday night.
Weisenburger was sworn in by Mayor Nelson Evans during a ceremony at the beginning of the council meeting.
Weisenburger was appointed by a vote of 4-2 at a special meeting last week to the council seat vacated by Maria Ermie. The previous week, her appointment was blocked by a tied 3-3 vote after three councilmen voiced their support for Rebecca Williams, one of four other applicants for the seat.
Councilman John Kevern, who had backed Williams, changed his vote during last week's meeting, allowing Weisenburger to be chosen.
The seat is among three council seats coming up for election this November. Weisenburger has already announced her candidacy for council.

"I think there's enough cause that I think this can be resolved with some sort of compromise," said Council President Joe Lawless.
