PERRYSBURG – The city's Planning Commission had a busy night during a more than two-hour meeting Thursday.

The commission, by a vote of 6-1, voted down a controversial plan to allow the 5th Street Pub, 109 W. Fifth Street, to expand use of its outdoor patio. The issue had drawn the ire of residents over complaints regarding parking, as well as noise, and vulgar language emanating from the patio.

In addition, the commission approved unanimously the placing of a total of five portable classroom units at Fort Meigs and Frank elementaries. If subsequently approved by council, the additional classrooms are expected to alleviate the space needs of the Perrysburg School District for the next school year.
