PEMBERVILLE - Village council Tuesday night approved the 2013 permanent appropriations ordinance and a variety of activities planned for the year.
The appropriations of $3,573,921 were unchanged from the ordinance that received its first reading a month ago. The amount includes utility operations.
Council also:

Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department is encouraging businesses and churches to consider a lock box to give fire crews a key in the case of an emergency. The key would prevent having to break down a door or window. The cost to the village would be about $265. Mayor Gordon Bowman said at least one church in the village has installed a lock box.
•    Learned the Board of Public Affairs has chosen firms to help with projects involving the south water plant and a new well.
•    Agreed to discuss possible ways for the village to use the Ohio Local Government Innovation Fund during a Finance Committee meeting March 14 at 6 p.m.
•    Heard about plans for the May 4 Our Place Family Fun Day at William Henry Harrison Park. Teams are being sought for a canoe race to help raise funds for charities. Contact Denny Henline at 419) 287-4750 for information.
Activities gaining approval were:
•    An April 26 parade by the youth baseball and softball teams from the police station along Pine and College streets to the ball field.  The parade marks the opening of the season.
•    The Pemberville Five-Miller for Friday evening during the Pemberville Free Fair in August. All provisions of the plan except a paragraph detailing how proceeds will be used was approved.
