PERRYSBURG – A Michigan man and woman are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State troopers seized 776 Oxycodone pills, worth $16,225, following a traffic stop in Wood County early Wednesday.
Troopers stopped a 2007 Chrysler Sebring, with Kentucky registration, for a speed violation on Interstate 75, near milepost 196, in Wood County at 2:01 a.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing dog was alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband in the center console of the vehicle.
The driver, Luciana F. Loyd, 38, of Detroit, and her passenger, Vincent K. Barksdale, 22, Radcliff, Ky,. were incarcerated in the Wood County jail and charged with possession and trafficking in Oxycodone, both second-degree felonies. If convicted each could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
Loyd is being held on $50,000 bond, and Barksdale is being held on $35,000 bond.
They are expected to appear in court on Aug. 22.
