Two sobriety checkpoints held in the area over the weekend netted a number of citations for a variety of
offenses.
In Northwood, at a checkpoint held Friday night into Saturday in the 2500 block of Woodville Road, there
were 11 citations issued for violations including expired or illegal plates, no driver’s license, child
safety seat, and drugs. Two people were turned over to the U.S. Border patrol for possibly being in the
United States illegally.
More than 623 vehicles came through the checkpoint, and 36 were diverted for further investigation; there
were no arrests for OVI.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported two checkpoints in Lucas County were operated by troopers from the
Bowling Green and Toledo posts on Saturday night into Sunday. A checkpoint on Crissey Road netted one
arrest for OVI; the driver was also cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A second
checkpoint at McCord Road had five drivers arrested for OVI.
Over 160 vehicles were checked between the two checkpoints.
