GRAND RAPIDS - A village home was damaged in a fire that began in an office Wednesday night.
Grand Rapids Assistant Fire Chief Les Heyman said this morning that the department was called to a fire at 23511 W. River Road at approximately 9 p.m.
Two residents were reportedly in the one-story house when the incident occurred, and escaped without injury.
Heyman said that the fire was contained to one room, a home office in the residence, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the structure.
Heyman said that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and he could not offer a financial estimate of the damage.
Washington Township Fire was also called to the scene to use their thermal imaging camera.
Units remained on-scene until approximately 11 p.m.
