HASKINS — An Ohio Highway Patrol officer was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Liberty Hi Road in Middleton Township, south of Ohio 582.
Trooper Devon Black, 24 of Tontogany, was driving north on Liberty Hi Road when he made several evasive maneuvers and ultimately crashed into a ditch. The patrol car then overturned, trapping Black in the vehicle.  Black was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Black was transported from the scene to St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo,  via air ambulance.
Middleton Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.

Rachel, you're ignorant comment is so beyond false. It is protocol that they investigate all of the reasons control may have been lost and that is not a reason in this situation. It was a freak accident and I know this because Devon is my brother. Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers.

Sounds like Ms. Bechtel has had a bad experience with law enforcement. What a classy comment from a fine, upstanding citizen...
