Custar man charged in Wednesday afternoon shooting PDF Print E-mail

CUSTAR – Custar resident Thomas J. Boyer, 53, has been charged in the shooting Wednesday afternoon of William Henry Morris, 42, Rutland in the village.

The incident took place at 22743 Defiance Pike (Ohio 281) across the highway from St. Louis School.
Morris was taken from the scene by air ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to his back. Morris was listed in serious condition.

Boyer is being held at the Wood County JKustice Center on a charge of attempted murder. He is due in Bowling Green Municipal Court today for arraignment.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office received report of the incident just after 1 p.m.

Upon the arrival of a deputy to the scene, Boyer had the gun in his possession, and a deputy held him at gunpoint prior to his arrest.
The Wood County SRT was alerted regarding the incident.
Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said that the school was not involved in the incident, and the shooter did not make any moves towards the school building. As of 2 p.m. he said that the school was back to normal operation.
