PERRYSBURG - Councilman Mike Olmstead is throwing his hat into the ring for the mayorship of the city.
Wearing an "Elect Mike Olmstead Mayor" button, Olmstead confirmed Tuesday night before the Perrysburg council meeting that he will be running for the post, and filed the necessary paperwork with the Wood County Board of Elections on Tuesday afternoon.
Olmstead, a Republican, was elected to council in 2005, chairs the Economic Development Committee, and sits on the Service-Safety and Recreation committees. He additionally owns Mike Olmstead's Performance Over Pain, a physical therapy and injury prevention business in the 1000 block of West South Boundary Street.
Current Perrysburg Mayor Nelson Evans, who has served since 2006, has indicated that he will not pursue a third term.
