NORTH BALTIMORE – The school district is moving forward with the search for its next
superintendent.Board of Education members approved an agreement on Tuesday with the Ohio School Boards
Association, at a cost of $6,900 plus expenses, for its superintendent search process. The process comes
following the announcement by Superintendent Marlene North that she plans to retire in June 2014, after
31 years in education.By contracting with the Ohio School Boards Association, North said, the district
will receive assistance throughout the entire process of finding its next superintendent.Representatives
will talk with key groups to discuss community priorities, send mailings to seek out candidates for the
position and assist with interview questions, for example. The search is expected to take four or five
months with North’s successor to be hired at the May school board meeting. This would allow for some
overlap with North’s contract and the new superintendent’s contract. In addition to the estimated $6,900
cost, board members also agreed to pay for other expenses incurred during the search. North said these
expenses would be for brochures and mailings to attract superintendent candidates. Also at Tuesday’s
board meeting, members met in executive session to discuss personnel and employee negotiations. No
action was expected.
