NORTH BALTIMORE - Village council on Tuesday agreed to pay $5,000 for an employee audit of its police department.
Mercury Investigations, Norwalk, will complete the audit.
The firm is composed of former police officers who will evaluate the department and make suggestions for improvement.
Mayor Mike Julien said the plan is for all village departments to go through an audit.
Also at Tuesday's council meeting, members:
• Appointed Eric Larson as interim EMS chief. He is expected to serve as interim chief for a year and will be paid $3,500 a year plus $10 per emergency run. Former Chief John Vanscoder asked council in May to step down from that post but to remain on the squad.
