NORTH BALTIMORE - For many years, the village has provided mutual aid to the Cygnet and Bloomdale fire departments. Now, the fire department's help in certain emergency situations will be automatic.
Council members, by a 6-0 vote, on Tuesday approved an "automatic mutual aid" for fire protection to the two nearby villages.
Per the agreement, the North Baltimore Fire Department will provide mutual aid to the other departments and "make them automatic as to when and how to respond, thus insuring faster and more adequate fire protection."
Also at Monday's meeting, council members:
•    Approving the hiring of three new employees to the EMS squad. Their training will be paid for by the village.
•    Went into executive session to discuss personnel matters. No action was expected.
