PERRYSBURG - One of Wood County Humane Society's two major fundraisers, and a crucial funding source for the shelter, is Saturday.
The Mutt Strut is a fun-filled, family event - that can include the family dog(s) - set for W.W. Knight Preserve from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.
The main event is a walk-a-thon to raise funds for the shelter, with walkers collecting sponsor support for their walk. Activities will include the Beauty PAWgent (11 a.m., registration 10 to 10:45 a.m.) to crown the king and queen of the Mutt Strut; vendors for shopping; Max & Erma's mascots; Ruby the Red Eyed Tree Frog from WBGU-TV; unicycling/juggling by Andrew Schuman; the Blue Booth photo booth by Jeff Beach Photo; free dog training advice from K-9 Solutions; pet sketches by Derek Brennan plus refreshments.
This year will also include the Wiener Dog Nationals, which will bring dachshund lovers from three states to the event.
Walkers can collect donations from family, friends, neighbors, employers, co-workers, and businesses in person or online to sponsor your walk.
Set up a personal online fundraising page at http://www.razoo.com/team/Mutt-Strutt-Pledge-Masters and click "Fundraise." The $15 registration fee will be waived for walkers who turn in $15 or more in donations.
Every registrant gets a goodie bag with coupons and treats.
The more collected, the more the animals are helped.  Raise $50-plus and get a T-shirt.
There will be prize baskets for those raising the most money, for both kids and adults.
