CYGNET - Interstate 75 northbound between North Baltimore and the village re-opened this morning after an hours-long closure caused by a multiple-vehicle incident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was informed of the incident just before 3:30 a.m. The closure stretched from Ohio 18 at North Baltimore to the Cygnet Road exit.
A patrol dispatcher said this morning that a semi tractor-trailer reportedly hooked onto one of the median cable wires and tore out approximately 2,000 feet of it as it drove.
Vehicles behind the semi then struck the dragging line, causing the incident.
It was not known this morning how many total vehicles were involved in the crash, but the dispatcher said that multiple were affected. A Wood County Sheriffs Office advisory said that there were "numerous disables semis and passenger vehicles."
The Ohio Department of Transportation said via Twitter that the road had reopened as of 7:10 a.m., but advised drivers to watch for crews working in the shoulders between Route 18 and Cygnet Road.
This is the third major incident that has snarled northbound traffic on I-75 between North Baltimore and Cygnet in the past week. On Thursday, two incidents, including a semi tractor-trailer that suffered a brake fire, caused closures that lasted hours.
