A Michigan woman was indicted for a Nov. 12 crash that resulted in the deaths of her two 7-week-old infant twins.
Lori A. Massingill, 38, Ida, Mich., was indicted by a Wood County grand jury on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of endangering children in the crash, which occurred on Fostoria Road, just south of Ohio 163 in Troy Township. Ohio State Trooper Chuck Grizzard indicated that the children were not properly restrained.
The female twin, Presley, was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, shortly after the crash. The male, Parker, was taken to the University of Michigan Children's Hospital, and died two days later.
According to the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Massingill was northbound on Fostoria Road and traveling at a high rate of speed when she struck a railroad crossing. The vehicle went airborne, went off the right side of the roadway, re-entered the roadway, and drove off the left side, striking a ditch and rolling twice.
Massingill was also injured in the crash.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
