PERRYSBURG - To further children's educational programming and opportunities at Way Public Library, Mercy and the library are partnering on new initiatives to benefit Perrysburg and the surrounding communities.
As such, Mercy donated $20,000 to the children's department at Way on Thursday, and the youth activity room in Way's children's area will be renamed: Mercy Family Activity Center.
Currently, Way Public Library is in the planning stage of updating numerous areas of the library. Next month the youth activity room will get a facelift which includes new carpeting and paint. Mercy's donation will also support children's books, educational materials, technology, interactives, activities and more.
In addition, Mercy and Way have plans to provide programming and educational opportunities for the community.  The first program scheduled to begin September 19 is Healthy U, a chronic disease self-management series. This program is free to the public. Registration is required by calling 419-251-6372 or at the Way Library Information Desk.
In October, Way and Mercy will begin the 'Mercy Talks" 2013-14 speaker series. The series will cover topics such as sleep disorders, flu, heart disease, vaccinations, headaches, diabetes and more.
Information on the upcoming series can soon be found on the Way Library webpage or at their information kiosk as well as at mercyweb.org
Way Public Library serves more than 25,000 patrons each month and offers 550 programs a year. The addition of educational programs on health issues through Way's partnership with Mercy is anticipated to be a great asset to the community.
