A member of a theft ring active in northern Wood County and Lucas County was sentenced to prison recently in Wood County Court of Common Pleas.
Amanda Adkins, 32, was sentenced to 17 months in prison for theft, and is to pay back $14,362.37 with her four co-defendants, Joshua Sprague, John Luce, Milton Wetzel and Paul Tunison, following a series of 13 theft incidents at stores in Perrysburg Township, Rossford, Toledo, Holland, and Oregon from May 3, 2010 to Nov. 23, 2011.
The ring reportedly stole merchandise from the stores, including Lowes, Home Depot, and Kohl's, and then completed "no-receipt returns" of the items for gift cards.
She was given credit for jail time of 13 days.
Adkins will also be subject to three years of community control sanctions after her release.
Also sentenced were:
•    Thomas Damron, 24, to 18 months in prison for an attempted escape from the Wood County jail through a bathroom ceiling on Sept. 24, 2013. The sentence is to be concurrent with his current sentence. He will also be subject community control upon release.
•    Johnny Miller, 54, who was sentenced to 30 months in prison for an August 2012 incident in which he reportedly forged Alcoholics Anonymous attendance slips in an effort to defraud Wood County Adult Probation; and for a 2013 failure to appear incident. The 18 months from the failure to appear are to be served concurrently with his other sentences. He is also subject to community control upon release.
