Maumee man dies in Ohio 65 motorcycle crash PDF Print E-mail

HASKINS - A Maumee man died Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Ohio 65 just east of Ohio 582 north of Haskins, the Ohio Highway Patrol's Bowling Green Post reports.
The incident occurred when Ray D. Wampler, 57, was driving his 2009 Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide motorcycle westbound on Route 65. The patrol reports Wampler lost control of his motorcycle and laid the vehicle down on its right side. Wampler was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest on the north side of Ohio 65. The motorcycle came to rest in the roadway.
He sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene by Pro-Medica Air to Toledo Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Wampler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, alcohol use is unknown, and the crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Middleton Township Fire and EMS, Pro-Medica Air, Shipley's Towing, and the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
