LIME CITY - A Maumee man was arrested in Perrysburg Township after reportedly stealing items from a local store and leading police on a foot chase.
Perrysburg Township Police report that they were called to a business in the 10000 block of Fremont Pike on Feb. 17 on the report of a possible robbery taking place in the parking lot involving two men and two females.
The caller reported that the two men had stashed boxes underneath a tree at another nearby facility and then left. It was later learned that the women, who were not identified, were apparently involved in the incident.
While units were on-scene, James Russell, 35, Maumee, returned to the site to retrieve some of the boxes and left in a black Dodge Ram truck.
The truck was stopped and Russell was removed from the passenger seat. While an officer attempted to handcuff him, Russell pulled away and ran. Two officers gave chase and were able to bring him into custody. The driver of the truck was not t involved, having been asked by Russell to give him a ride.
Russell later admitted that he stole the items, and was arrested on theft and resisting arrest charges. He was incarcerated in the Wood County jail.
