Three men associated with the same company have been arrested in Bowling Green since Wednesday on charges related to soliciting without a permit. According to Bowling Green Police, John Bristol, Wilmington, Del., an employee with Mid State Subscriptions, was arrested for criminal trespass in the 400 block of East Napoleon Road on Wednesday after he reportedly attempted to solicit on property clearly marked with a "No Soliciting" sign. Two other employees were warned Thursday for soliciting in the 800 block of Jefferson Drive without a permit. One of those warned, Steven Castillo, San Dimas, Calif., was arrested later in the day in the area of Lafayette Boulevard and South Orleans Avenue for soliciting without a permit and criminal trespassing. Their boss, Timothy Bowman, Virginia Beach, Va., was also arrested after it was reported he had sent Castillo out to solicit again after he had been told Castillo could not do so without a permit. Bowman was charged with complicity to soliciting without a permit and complicity to criminal trespass. "I don't know that there's an uptick," said Lt. Ken Fortney, "but every summer we run into the same thing. People come into town, and they try to solicit as much as they can before they get stopped. And we're basically alerted to this by citizens." |
