OVI checkpoint tonight in county
The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Wood County this evening.
The checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
"Based on provisional data, there were 453 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 494 people were killed
last year in Ohio," Lieutenant Jerrod A. Savidge, commander of the Bowling Green Post, said.
"OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these
dangerous drivers from our roadways."
The location of the checkpoint was to be announced today.
Portage Twp. meets Tuesday
The Portage Township Trustees will meet Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the township at the corner of Huffman and
Mermill roads.
Ambulance board meets
The board of the Mid-County Ambulance District will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the headquarters
building on County Home Road.
Lenten luncheon at Risingsun
RISINGSUN – A Lenten luncheon will be hosted Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Risingsun
from noon to 1 p.m.
Soup, sandwich, assorted drinks and dessert for a free will offering.
Open house at St. Louis School
CUSTAR – Because of weather, St. Louis School has rescheduled its open house.
The event will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
St. Louis offers preschool for both 3 and 4 year old students, as well as grades kindergarten through
sixth.
Potential students and their families are welcome to visit the classrooms, tour the building and meet the
teachers.
