COLUMBUS (AP) – Dozens of new Ohio troopers are joining the ranks of the State Highway Patrol.
The agency says the 155th academy class included 43 cadets. This group is smaller than each of the two
classes that the patrol graduated early last year. Those classes added about 140 troopers, giving the
patrol about 1,600 sworn officers in the state, a level it hadn’t seen in years.
Four of the graduates, including one from Perrysburg, received special honors for top performance in
various fields of study at the Training Academy.
Trooper Matthew R. Cook Jr., who has been assigned to the Findlay patrol, was honored for top performance
in firearms.
Help offered to sign up for health insurance
Residents have to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act by March 31 or will be
charged a fine.
While the Affordable Care Act (ACA) offers a large number of options, many find it quite confusing. While
some lack computers, others are having trouble with the government’s website www.healthcare.gov.
Neighborhood Health Association (NHA) is providing helpful, trained navigators at no cost to area
residents.
