Lions Club delivers poinsettiasThe Bowling Green Evening Lions Club with support from Bostdorff
Greenhouse Acres delivered 60 poinsettias to five city nursing homes Saturday.Lion Jim Frobose chaired the
committee of Bowling Green service club members who provided the traditional holiday plant to add a bit of
cheer for local senior citizens in Heritage, Sterling, Woodhaven, BG Manor and Blakely Nursing homes.The
local club has sponsored this Christmas project for over 16 years.Holiday affects BG collectionsBowling
Green will follow its regular refuse and recycling pickup schedule Monday and Tuesday.Wednesday’s route will
be picked up Thursday and Thursday’s route on Friday.Wayne moves council meetingWAYNE – The Jan. 1 village
council meeting has been moved to Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. due to the holiday.Sheriff increases patrol for the
holidaysThe Wood County Sheriff’s Office is conducting increasing patrols over the Christmas and New Year’s
holidays.The blitz will continue through Jan. 2.Deputies will pay particular attention to violations, such
as driving under the influence, failure to yield, and speeding, all of which are leading factors in fatal
crashes. There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat belt violations.The blitz is
receiving funding through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.Fatal crashes down in countyFatal crashes in Wood
County remain lower than in 2012.Wood County Safe Communities announced that there have been 14 fatal
crashes in the county this year, compared to 18 by the same time last year.However, alcohol-involved crashes
are up slightly in Wood County compared to 2012.This year, 2.9 percent of all traffic crashes have involved
alcohol, compared to 2.4 percent in 2012.The percentage of injury crashes involving alcohol has risen from
3.5 percent in 2012 to 5.1 percent this year.Alcohol-involved fatal crashes have dipped from 19 percent in
