Rossford debates two rec levies
ROSSFORD - City Council Monday took the first step toward putting two 0.4 recreation levies on the ballot next year.
The levies are due to expire next year. Each generates $37,000.
The city is asking the auditor to tell it how much renewing and replacing would cost. Renewing would collect the same amount of money while replacing would reset the tax rate, and generate more money, an estimated $49,000
However, generating more money would carry with it a disproportionate tax burden because of the state's elimination of the 12.5-percent Homestead Exemption in the new state budget.
The levies cold be on the ballot as early as May of next year.
BG man arrested on warrants
A city man was arrested Tuesday on two warrants, including one out of Florida.
Bowling Green Police report that they took Michael J. Bogle, 54, into custody on a Northwood warrant, as well as a warrant from the Columbia County Sheriffs' Office in Florida.
The warrant from that state was on a burglary charge.
Bogle was arrested in the 1000 block of North Grove Street.
