Work to begin on water tower
Bowling Green expects construction crews to begin work on the foundation for the city's new water tower by the end of the month.
Director of Utilities Brian O'Connell told city council last week that the city has completed purchase of the one-acre parcel of land on the south side of West Newton Road where the tower will be located.
The 1.5-million gallon tower should be in service in the first part of 2015.
The tower will be a composite construction similar to one the City of Perrysburg is completing on the south side of that community.
At that time the 500,000 gallon water tower on Manville Avenue will be  dismantled.
