Due to space issues, the weekly opinion pages of the Sentinel-Tribune will appear in Thursday's newspaper.
Candidates forum in BG
The League of Women Voters of Bowling Green Candidates Forum will be held on Sunday at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Room, 1506 E. Wooster St.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the forum scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m.
Candidates running for a seat on the city council and Bowling Green Schools Board of Education will answer questions from the audience.
The event is co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women, the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, the BGSU Retirees Association and the BGSU Undergraduate Student Government.
Sheriff's Office gets safety grant
The Wood County Sheriff's Office has been awarded more than $53,000 in federal traffic safety funding for fiscal year 2014.
The funding is from the Ohio Department of Public Safety's Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
"These funds are critical in ensuring that we are doing everything we possibly can to keep our local community safe," said Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn in a press release. "Speed, impaired driving, restraint use are a priority for Wood County and we are committed to working with our partners at the state level to address this safety issue."
The Sheriff's Office will use the funding - amounting to $53,096.31 - to conduct high-visibility enforcement, work overtime hours and hold educational and awareness events, which the grant will completely cover.
The Sheriff's Office is the only law enforcement agency in Wood County to receive the High Visibility Enforcement grant.
Wayne Library combines meetings
WAYNE - The Wayne Public Library Board has combined its October and November meetings into one, that will be held Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
