Fog blamed for Custar crash
CUSTAR - One man was injured in a fog-related crash south of here on Friday.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office reported that at 8:19 a.m. Keith Beard, Deshler, was believed to have been eastbound on Cygnet Road when, due to the heavy fog, he ran a stop sign at Milton Road and struck a ditch embankment.
He sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to Wood County Hospital.
Beard was cited for reasonable control, and for failure to reinstate his license.

Hospital shuttle goes idle
A courtesy shuttle in operation at Wood County Hospital for more than a decade was discontinued this summer.
The hospital is focusing on a new parking plan that will start this fall.
Catharine Harned, the hospital's marketing and business development director, said an audit conducted to determine the use of the shuttle revealed that the usage did not warrant the funds used to run the shuttle.
The service was discontinued on June 28.
Harned indicated that the hospital is revising its parking policy and creating additional close-up parking spaces for patients and visitors. The new plan is expected to be implemented in the next few weeks.

Brush pick-up starts Monday
Curbside brush collection will begin in Bowling Green on Monday. Residents who receive city-provided refuse/recycling service are eligible.
To ensure that brush is picked up, it must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday. There will only be one pick-up at each location and, once the crews leave a street, they will not return.
Limbs and brush should be placed curbside loosely. Stumps and limbs in excess of 24 inches in diameter and 10 foot in length will not be picked up. Brush mixed with leaves or other yard debris will not be collected.
