Rollover crash injures one
LUCKEY - One woman was injured after a rollover crash early Friday morning in Troy Township.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office reports that at 1:25 a.m. Mackenzie Hornyak, Casa Grande, Ariz., was driving southbound in the 22000 block of Lemoyne Road when she drove off the west side of the road and struck a ditch.
Her vehicle overturned twice before coming to a final rest in the ditch.
Hornyak, who was wearing her seat belt, was taken to Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, by Troy Township EMS with non-incapacitating injuries.
Motion filed to dismiss arsonist's appeal
TOLEDO - The U.S. Attorney's Office is seeking to have the appeals case for convicted Islamic Center arsonist Randolph Linn dismissed.
A motion was filed by attorney Laura McMullen Ford last week, arguing that an appellate waiver Linn, 52, St. Joe, Ind., agreed to when changed his plea to guilty last year "precludes Linn from challenging on appeal the District Court's decision" to deny his attempt to change his guilty plea and disallow a competency hearing.
Linn was sentenced to 20 years and a restitution totalling $1.4 million in the case after he was convicted of the Sept. 20, 2012, arson at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, Perrysburg Township.
Linn had sought to change his guilty plea, and to have a competency hearing in the trial, but both motions were denied by U.S. District Court Judge Jack Zouhary.
