Library opens again at 9 a.m.
Starting Tuesday, Wood County District Public Library will have new hours.
In Bowling Green the library will be open Monday though Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
New hours at the Walbridge Branch library will be Monday and Wednesday, 1 to7 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Walbridge Branch Library is closed on Sunday.
Long-time library users will recall WCDPL in Bowling Green opening at 9 a.m. prior to cuts which were made due to the failing economy. "Restoring hours was a promise made to voters," said WCDPL director Michael Penrod. "We began restoring hours gradually as the economy began improving, bringing back Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings. Now, by opening at 9 a.m. in Bowling Green, we're back to operating at full strength."
Robbery reported on campus
A robbery that occurred on the campus of Bowling Green State University on Sunday is under investigation by BGSU police.
The incident was reported at 4:31 a.m. in Parking Lot B, located off of Troup Avenue near the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity house.
No weapon was involved in the incident, and the robber reportedly took cash from the victim.
Police are still looking into the matter and further details were not available this morning.
OVI checkpoint planned Thur.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Wood County Thursday evening.
The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.
The location of the checkpoint will be announced Thursday morning
BG board meets Friday
The Bowling Green Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Administrative Offices building, 137 Clough Street, for the purpose of personnel employment, approve bus routes, approve auction contract and other items that may arise.
Action is expected.
