Shaken baby benefit at $2,900
A total of $2,900 was raised Aug. 4 by the first Shaken Baby Syndrome of Ohio motorcycle event that started in Bowling Green and finished in Luckey.
There were 86 motorcycles and 114 participants that gathered at Thayer Ford before taking off for the Napoleon Harley Davidson dealership. After a stop there the group headed to Rita's Dairy Bar in Grand Rapids before finishing the day at the home of Paul and Rosie Hartman in Luckey for a picnic and auction.
At Luckey the participants heard from Dean Sparks of Lucas County Children's Services, Jennifer Bender of Wood County Children's Services, and retired detective Ray McDannell of New Hampshire, who made a special trip to the event.
Plans are already being made for a second event on Aug. 3, 2013.
