County workers pledge to not text and drive
Wood County employees pledged to not text and drive earlier this month, and a banner recognizing their promises was recently hung in the atrium of the county courthouse.
"There's a big trend showing that there are a lot of distracted driving accidents, and we need to bring this message so everyone is giving 100 percent of attention to their driving," said Sandy Wiechman, safe communities coordinator for Wood County.
Roughly 75 employees signed the banner at a safety fair and employee picnic June 11, she said.
Wiechman was assisted in pushing "accountability and ownership" for drivers' actions by troopers from Ohio State Highway Patrol's Bowling Green post.
