Special Olympics seeks helpers
Wood County Special Olympics is currently recruiting volunteers to help with local summer Special
Olympics events.

BG’s Concert in the Park is Sunday
Kerry Patrick Clark & Band will perform at Sunday’s Concert in the Park on the Needle Hall stage.
Starting at 7 p.m., the group will perform folk and original tunes.
The event in presented by the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation department along with title sponsor BG
Transit and supporting sponsors the Bowling Green State University Division of Student Affairs and T. J.
Maxx.

Northwood FD receives grant
The City of Northwood Fire Department has been awarded resources for Operations and Safety by the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emer-gency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to
Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.
The fire department was awarded $85,500 in funding as part of the round eight competitive Fiscal Year
2013 AFG Program announcements.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program helps firefighters and other first responders improve
their ability to protect the public and themselves. Projects funded in the Operations and Safety
category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective
equipment.
