BG board meets tonight
The Bowling Green Board of Education will hold a special meeting on tonight at 6 at the Administrative Offices building, 137 Clough St., for the purpose of general planning discussion, personnel retirements and/or hiring and other items that arise.
Action is expected to be taken.
Food giveaway Friday in BG
The monthly government food distribution for Bowling Green will be Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St.
Lunch in Park begins Friday
Bowling Green's Lunch in the Park begins its 2013 run Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Park.
Food this week will be from Panera Bread with Mayor Richard Edwards and wife Nadine as servers.
Music will be by Tim Tegge.
Local author signs books
Local author Lois Sonnenberg will be signing and selling her book, "Grave Tales: A Mother Goose Spoof," Saturday at Grounds for Thought.
She'll be at the downtown Bowling Green business from 10 a.m. to noon.
Salvation Army Tools for Schools
Each year the Salvation Army conducts a program, Tools for Schools, for under-served children in Kindergarten through High School, providing backpacks packed with supplies.
This year applications will be accepted at The Salvation Army office, 1045 N. Main St., Bowling Green beginning on July 22 and ending on August 9 from 9:00 am to noon and 12:30 to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Distribution of the backpacks will be on August 14.
Promotion within BGFD
Terry Busch was promoted to a lieutenant with the Bowling Green Fire Division Monday night.
Busch, a member of BGFD for 17 years, was administered the oath by Mayor Richard Edwards, while his wife, family and mother, who lives in Strongsville, watched.
Edwards said Busch specializes in fire investigations and has also developed skills as a grant writer, "something that is not easy to do."
