Novel Chit Chats meet Wednesday
Youth and adults are invited to join the Novel Chit Chats book discussion group and Skype with Wonder author R.J. Palacio on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Children's Place of the Wood County District Public Library.
Palacio will be discussing and answering questions about Wonder, the May 2013 Youth Community Reads featured novel.
The book centers on themes of acceptance, civility, celebrating differences and choosing kindness.
The Wood County District Public Library received a 2013 Bowling Green Community Foundation grant to promote this first Youth Community Reads and is partnering with all of the schools in Bowling Green. The Community Reads Committee and the Bowling Green Human Relations Commission are also supporting the month long program.
Sheriff's office offers online safety seminar
The Wood County Sheriff's Office will hold an online safety seminar Thursday in observance of National Missing Children's Day.
The seminar, entitled "Take 25: Keeping Our Children Safe Online" will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the sheriff's office, 1960 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green. It is being held in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and is part of the Take 25 child safety program.
The event, free and open to the public, will provide parents with an opportunity to learn strategies to help ensure that their children reduce the risks they are taking online.
