Climate expert talks at BGSU
Dr. Katherine Hayhoe, just named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, will
deliver the annual Lamb Peace Lecture Monday at 7:30 p.m. in room 228 of the Bowen Thompson Student
Union on the Bowling Green State University campus
Her free lecture, "Years of Living Dangerously: How Climate Change Affects Us Today" is based
on her knowledge as a climate scientist but geared toward a general audience.
Hayhoe is featured in James Cameron’s documentary "Years of Living Dangerously" currently on
Showtime.
Road closure in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – Part of Front Street will be closed overnight for road work for several days beginning next
week, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.
Front Street will be closed between Ohio 25/West Boundary Street and Mulberry Street for milling and
paving from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as May 5 and 6.
The detour is Ohio 25 to Indiana Avenue to Louisiana Avenue. All work is weather-permitting.
Lions Club plants for 60th instead of partying
The Bowling Green Evening Lions Club planted 80 Pin Oak and Red Maple saplings in the Black Swamp
Preserve on Wednesday to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Instead of the traditional charter night party, the local service club decided to do this project as a
way to give a long-term contribution to the local community.
Led by Lion Jim Frobose, the members and friends planted the seedlings from the Arbor Day foundation to
cover over an acre of the preserve.
Walbridge Council committees meet
WALBRIDGE – Two village council committee meetings will be held Tuesday in the town hall.
Buildings and lands will meet at 5:30 p.m. and streets will start at 5:15 p.m.
A special council meeting will be held at 5 p.m.
Zoning Commission to hold meeting
TONTOGANY – The Washington Township Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on May 6 at 7 p.m. in
the Washington Township Fire Hall.
This hearing is to introduce and seek public comment on proposed changes to the township zoning
resolutions.
