Field fires prevalent around Wood County
NORTH BALTIMORE - The Wood County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports in recent days of field burnings and controlled burns as area landowners attempt to get rid of leftover brush in their fields.
One such burn was reported Wednesday in the area of Oil Center Road and North Baltimore Road, north of the village. The burn was reportedly quite large and was put out with water tankers owned by the farmer.
Wednesday evening smoke was so think along both sides of Interstate 75 south of U.S. 6 and north of Jerry City that it could be mistaken for fog, according to one account reported to the Sentinel.
