Rotary to hear about magazine
Bowling Green Rotary Club will hear Jan Knape talk about BG Health Magazine Thursday
at 11:45 a.m. at Bowling Green Country Club.
Fish fries set for Friday night
Several dinners are scheduled for Friday night around Wood County:

Apraxia topic for BG Kiwanis
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will hear a presentation on Apraxia in children at
noon on Thursday at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Beth McIntosh, president and one of the founding members of the Northwest Ohio
Apraxia Support Group, will be the speaker. Apraxia in children is a type of
developmental speech disorder that results in a child’s inability to say what he
or she wants to say correctly or consistently.
McIntosh is a lifelong resident of Bowling Green, is a graduate of Bowling Green High
School and earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State
University.
Democrats elect four delegates
Democrats across the 5th Congressional District Thursday night met at Bowling Green
State University’s Bowen-Thompson Student Union to elect delegates for the
Democratic National Convention to be held in Charlotte, N.C., in September.
Elected were Beverly Spetz of Delta and Sandra Wise of Fremont as female delegates
and Mike Zickar of Perrysburg Township and Marcus Sherrill of Bowling Green as
male delegates.

Marine fundraiser planned
TOLEDO – The Lou Diamond Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold its annual
Landing Party Breakfast Sunday from 7 to 11:30 a.m.
The breakfast is a fundraiser for the detachment. Tickets are $25 per person and the
event is open to the public. The menu will include creamed chipped beef on
toast, and steak and eggs.
Guest speakers at the event will be Capt. Charles E. Hayter, USMC,
inspector-instructor of Weapons Company First Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment,
Fourth Marine Division, Perrysburg; and PFC. Harvey C. Canard, a veteran of Iwo
Jima who served with I Company, Third Battalion, 28th Marines, Fifth Marine
Division during World War II.
Also present at the event will be the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Zenobia
Highlanders, a Marines vehicle display, and a collectibles display. Also
featured will be door prizes, an M1 Garand raffle, and a 50/50 raffle.
