Lightning knocks out power in BG
A section of northwest Bowling Green was without electricity for a little over one hour Wednesday night.
Director of Utilities Brian O'Connell said a lightning strike near Poe and Mitchell roads tripped off the Poe Road substation.
He said two other outages that affected a small number of customers were also caused by lightning strikes.

Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is hosting a public meeting to share information, updates, plans and answer any questions about the brand new City Pool and Waterpark opening this summer.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Bowling Green Community Center Classroom A/B.
Season passes will go on sale beginning on April 20 to Bowling Green residents and May 18 to non residents.

Severe weather spotters invited to training
The annual SKYWARN severe weather spotters training for Wood County will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Lake High School auditorium.
The training is presented by the National Weather Service, Cleveland office, and is sponsored by the Wood County Emergency Management Agency.
This training will explain how to accurately identify and report severe weather occurrences to the National Weather Service and local officials.
The training is open to the public and preregistration is not required.

Coffee Talk Book Group meets Thursday at library
Coffee Talk Book Group, led by Wood County District Public Library’s Kristin Wetzel, will meet Thursday at 10:30 am to discuss M. L. Stedman’s “The Light Between Oceans.”
The group meets in the Reading Lounge area of the second floor of the library. Light refreshments will be served, and copies of the group’s next book, “The Hot Flash Club” by Nancy Thayer will be available to be checked-out.
