Early morning accident injures one
One person was taken to Wood County Hospital following a crash early this morning on U.S. 6 near Bowling Green Road West, just west of the city.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office reports that at 12:41 a.m. a vehicle crashed into a ditch in the 16000 block of Route 6. A man in the vehicle stated he sustained a hip injury. He was taken to the hospital by Mid-County 120 EMS. Weston Fire/EMS also responded to the scene.
Additional details were not available at press time.
Pemberville takes cardboard recyclables
PEMBERVILLE - The village has opened its cardboard recycling program.
Bins have been placed at the north end of the street garage on Sherman Street.
Cardboard may be dropped off any time of the day.
Weston Legion cancels suppers
WESTON - American Legion Post 409 will not be holding suppers on the first and third Fridays until further notice.
Blood drive in BG Saturday
A blood drive will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bowling Green Covenant Church, 1165 Haskins Road.
Man beaten, robbed on Easter
NORTHWOOD - A Toledo man was attacked and robbed by two assailants in the city during an incident Easter Sunday.
Northwood Police report that at 12:49 a.m. they were called to a business in the 300 block of West Andrus Road on the report of a robbery victim needing assistance.
The 49-year-old Toledo resident, who uses a cane to walk, had received cuts on his head. He stated that he was walking from his residence to meet his daughter, and was carrying a cloth bag containing changes of underwear and medication.
When he reached the Northwood Estates mobile home, in the 1000 block of Tracy Road, he said two males, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, jumped him, wrestled him and knocked him to the ground, took his bag and fled into a vehicle believed to be a black, two-door Chevrolet.
His prescription medications were reportedly valued at $700.
