State Patrol targets drivers this weekend
The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be teaming up with law enforcement officials from Florida to Michigan
along the Interstate 75 corridor for The I-75 Challenge. This effort is a high visibility enforcement
initiative aimed at reducing traffic crash fatalities.
Troopers in Ohio will be targeting safety belt usage, aggressive driving/speed and OVI-related violations
during the initiative that continues through Sunday.
The I-75 Challenge is being spearheaded by the Florida Highway Patrol, and brings together state and
local law enforcement from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan.
Elevator stuck at BGSU
Three students were stuck in an elevator on the Bowling Green State University Campus Wednesday night.

The incident, at the Falcon Heights residence hall, 707 E. Merry Ave., was reported at 8:09 p.m. The
elevator became stuck on the third floor.
Fire personnel were called to the scene. However, before crews could arrive, the doors were able to open
on their own and the students exited the elevator without incident.
The elevator was to be evaluated by BGSU personnel.
Fire personnel returned to service at 8:31 p.m.
Mazey invited to land-grant board seat
Bowling Green State University President Mary Ellen Mazey has been invited by the Association of Public
and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) to serve as on the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA) Oversight
Board for a two-year term.
The VSA is an initiative created by public universities to supply straightforward, comparable information
on the undergraduate student experience through a common website, the College Portrait. It is sponsored
by the APLU and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The function of the VSA
Oversight Board is to provide direction and guidance to the VSA team in the accomplishment of project
goals.
