BGHS joins jazz festival
Wednesday is the 25th annual Northview High School Jazz Festival, to which the BGHS Jazz Band has been invited for the first time.
The BGHS musicians, along with several other area high schools, will each present a 15 minute set containing three of four selections. Under the direction of Karen S. Smith, the BGHS set will begin at 5:50 p.m.
During each high school performance, members of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra will prepare critiques of each group, including awards for outstanding soloists.
After all of the high school bands have performed, the TJO will present a concert for the students and audience members. Local musicians who perform with the TJO often include Chris Buzzelli, Roger Schupp, Charles Saenz, Phil Smith and Dan Saygers.
The admission for the entire festival is $2, payable at the door.
