Fire reported in Risingsun RISINGSUN - The Ohio State Fire Marshal is reportedly investigating a fire that occurred Monday night in the village's downtown. The blaze, apparently in an apartment, was reported at 11:10 p.m. in the area of the 100 block of Main Street. The incident was reportedly called in by a neighbor. Initial reports indicated that residents were able to escape the fire. Further details were unavailable and a call placed with the State Fire Marshal was not immediately returned. Haskins holds committee mtgs. Haskins Village Finance and Audit along with Facilities and Grounds Committees will be meeting Wednesday at 6:30 in the town hall. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposed new town hall building. Two bag days set St. Vincent dePaul NORTH BALTIMORE - Bag Days for clothing will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Vincent dePaul Thrift Store in the village. All other items are regular price. Perrysburg Dems meet Thursday PERRYSBURG - Ohio Sen. Nina Turner will headline the annual meeting of the Perrysburg Area Democratic Club on Thursday. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the lower level of the Way Public Library. Turner represents Ohio's 25th Senate District, which covers the greater Cleveland area. In addition, members of the club's board of trustees will be elected. Club President Tom Mackin will also report on activities of the club during the last year. County elected officials Joel Kuhlman, county commissioner, and Julie Baumgartner, county recorder, also are scheduled to speak about developments at the county level. According to police, a call came into dispatch at 4:02 of a smoke detector going off an 1048 N. Main St. When police entered the trailer, they found the 50 year old woman, who reported being raped. The case remains under investigation. Guidera to remain at BGSU As was indicated earlier this month, Bowling Green State University has completed a conditional agreement with Stanley Guidera that will allow him to remain on the faculty. Guidera plead guilty Jan. 8 in Toledo Municipal Court to several charges stemming from a drunk driving incident last Sept. 21 in Toledo. BGSU will allow Guidera to remain pending completion of an alcohol rehabilitation program, court-ordered probation and no violation of probation for the next three years. Violation would end his employment. Another elevator stuck at BGSU Fire personnel were called to rescue a person stuck in an elevator on the campus of Bowling Green State University early this morning. This is the third such incident this month, and the latest in a series of elevator-related rescues on campus since July. The Bowling Green Fire Division was notified of the incident at the Harshman-Chapman residence hall, 125 N. Mercer, at 1 a.m. The individual was reportedly trapped in the elevator, which had stopped between the first and second floors. Fire personnel shut off the elevator and were able to lower it using a hydraulic bypass valve. They then pried open the doors and freed the individual. Personnel left the scene at 1:18 a.m. The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will hear a presentation on developing technologies that make ethanol production more efficient at noon on Thursday at Stone Ridge Golf Club. Mike Knueven, the commodities manager for POET Biorefining in Leipsic, will present the program. The Liepsic plant is one of POET’s 27 in seven states with a capacity of 1.6 billion gallons of ethanol, nine billion pounds of high protein animal feed and thousands of pounds of bio-based oils and lubricants. In its 21 years of existence, POET has developed proprietary technologies with the highest ethanol yields and energy efficiencies in the industry. Cimmerman takes Moya case Jose Moya will now be represented by Adrian Cimmerman as he stands trial for the July 2012 murder of Leandra Frankum in Perrysburg Heights. Judge Alan Mayberry arranged the appointment of the new attorney for the Toledo man following Friday’s proceedings. On Friday Moya and his former attorney both requested the change.
