Power outage resolved after traffic crash
ROSSFORD – A power outage in the city, apparently caused by a traffic crash, and which affected up to 500
customers, has been resolved.
The First Energy website, as of 10:26 a.m. Tuesday, no longer listed the outage.
Rossford Police reported that the incident may have stemmed from a crash on Wales Road earlier Tuesday
involving a car that spun out of control on black, ice, causing power lines to fall and damaging a
utility pole.
First Energy/Toledo Edison was reportedly on-scene at about 10:20 a.m.
Traffic signals on Buck Road were not operating during the incident, and Lime City Road and the Grassy
Creek subdivision were also affected.
No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred around 8:15 a.m.
BGFD called to carbon monoxide in city home
A gas water heater appeared to be the source of carbon monoxide emissions that called firefighters to a
city residence on Tuesday.
According to the Bowling Green Fire Division, crews were called out to a residence in the 100 block of
Williams Street around 2:35 p.m. on the report of a carbon monoxide detector activating.
The occupant was not home at the time.
Carbon monoxide levels of 15 parts per million were found in the garage, with lower levels elsewhere in
the residence. The Consumer Produce Safety Commission notes that symptoms from carbon monoxide – which
is colorless and odorless – become noticeable at concentrations around 70 ppm, and can be fatal above
150 to 200 ppm.
The occupant arrived home 10 minutes later.
After testing the furnace and water heater, the occupant was permitted to remain on the property.
Legal clinic Thursday in BG
A free legal clinic runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Alliance Church, 1161 Napoleon Road.
Anyone who wants to speak with an attorney can do so during this time.
